Umniah Launches the Five-a-Side Football Tournament for University Students in the Country’s Largest Interactive Campaign

As Part of the Shababi Initiative Amman, Jordan – October 10, 2017: Umniah launched the country’s largest interactive campaign targeting Jordanian university students, which will include the company’s annual Five-a-Side Football Tournament. This is the third consecutive year that Umniah holds its Shababi campaign, and this year will see the participation of 13 public and private universities from around Jordan. The month-long campaign, which kicked off on October 10 and continues until November 11, 2017, will see Jordanian university students competing in the Umniah Five-a-Side Football Tournament that will be held on a unique mobile football pitch created especially for the event. Umniah Marketing Director, Zaid Ibrahim spoke of the company’s absolute belief in the importance of supporting Jordan’s youth and improving their cognitive and entrepreneurial capacities. He said that, since their launch in the local market, Umniah’s youth-specific programs and services have zeroed in on university students, a segment that constitutes the largest and most important consumer of technology. He spoke of Umniah’s focus on the needs of this segment in order to create programs that are well suited to their needs. According to Ibrahim, the Umniah Five-a-Side Football Tournament will kick off in the north of the country, before stopping in Amman and finally making its way south, and will seek to inspire health competition among the students of participating universities. Four qualifying teams will head to the final game to compete for the all-important championship title. For those not participating in the football tournament, the event will also include marksmanship competitions, mazes and more. First place winners will receive an all-inclusive trip to Taba, Egypt; second place winners will travel to Aqaba; while the team that places third will enjoy a trip to the Dead Sea. More prizes include Huawei telephones, dongles, Shababi lines and telephone scratch cards, in addition to numerous other in-kind rewards. Ibrahim indicated that the students who subscribe to Shababi packages (Shababi 5 line and a Huawei telephone) will automatically be entered in the Ruffle competition to win one of ten $1000 scholarships from Huawei- reach company. Ibrahim spoke of Umniah’s appreciation for Huawei’s- reach Comapny contribution to the initiative through its valuable prizes for the winners. Throughout the month-long initiative, Umniah’s team will present the idea behind the Shababi platform and its dedicated line, which provides talk and data services at competitive, student-friendly prices.
