Umniah participates in cybersecurity workshop organized by ISACA Amman, 29 June: Given its longstanding innovations in the field of cybersecurity, Umniah, a subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain, recently participated in a workshop organized by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) — an independent, nonprofit global association that engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted knowledge and practices for information systems. The workshop broached the increasingly important topic of managing security operation centers and the evolution toward Intelligent SOCs, in addition to providing an overview of the most recent SOC attacks within the region. Umniah, which is a gold sponsor of ISACA’s operations in Amman, stemmed from its commitment to raising awareness on cybersecurity and supplying the local market with a wide array of solutions and expertise on the subject, thus helping organizations in both public and private sector in safeguarding their networks against potential threats. The operator also works toward helping organizations adhere to the guidelines established by major governing bodies, such the Central Bank of Jordan and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. Umniah’s Information Security Director, provided an overview of the requirements for launching Intelligent SOCs, drawing from the many lessons learned during the inception of Umniah’s flagship SOC — the first Intelligent SOC in the kingdom, operating around-the-clock to provide managed security services (MSS) that are uniquely integrated with a number of global databases that allow it to remain up-to-date on any potential cybersecurity threats. The center also offers innovative solutions in information security, including the early detection of system vulnerabilities within enterprise networks and preemptive neutralization of threats. Umniah’s CEO, Ziad Shatara, commended ISACA’s efforts toward raising awareness and the building the capacities of personnel specializing in information security, underscoring the importance of the workshop and the global ramifications of cybersecurity threats.
