As part of Forsa Initiative to Renovate Public School Playgrounds Umniah Inaugurated its 10th School in Wadi Musa

November 2023

Under the patronage of the Director of Education for the Petra District, Umniah inaugurated Asma Bint Abi Bakr Mixed Secondary School, as the tenth school under the Forsa initiative, which was launched in 2021.

The opening of the school which is located in the Wadi Musa area of the Petra district, came after completing the rehabilitation and restoration of the schools playground as part of Umniah’s Forsa initiative, which aims to renovate and restore public school playgrounds over a 5-year period, creating a healthy lifestyle for students and enhancing their performance, at a cost of more than one million dinars.

Professor Imad Al-Safasfah, the Director of Education for the Petra District, commended Umniah’s initiative to rehabilitate the playgrounds of Asmaa Bint Abi Bakr Mixed Secondary School, which is in line with the Ministry of Education’s efforts to create a safe and healthy educational environment for students. He went on to say that the Forsa initiative exemplifies the meaning of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve similar goals that will benefit society and its people.

Rula Nasraween, Corporate Social Responsibility Supervisor at Umniah, stated that the opening of the tenth school under Forsa initiative reflects Umniah’s belief and efforts in supporting the education sector in the Kingdom, thus achieving a number of sustainable development goals set by the United Nations in the areas of health, well-being and quality education, which Umniah’s social responsibility programs are based on it.
Nasraween stated that creating an appropriate and stimulating school environment for sports activities will have a positive impact on students’ physical and mental health; thus, Umniah’s Forsa initiative came to enhance and improve this environment and complete the Ministry of Education’s efforts.

The addition of Asmaa Bint Abi Bakr Mixed Secondary School brings the total number of public schools that have benefited from the Forsa initiative to ten, spread across the Kingdom in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Salt, Madaba, Karak, and Wadi Musa. The number of students benefiting from this initiative exceeds 6,700 with more schools expected to be added in the coming months of the current school year for the next phase.

Speeches, artistic and sporting performances, and poems were all part of the opening ceremony. The ceremony was full of patriotic celebrations, coinciding with Jordan’s Independence Day and His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II’s royal wedding.
