Umniah Mobile Company, a subsidiary of the Bahraini Beyon Group, has recently announced the appointment of Abdulla Bukhowa as Chairman of the Board.
Bukhowa has been serving on Beyon’s Board of Directors since 2020, and currently occupies the position of Chief Executive Officer at Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company. Bukhowa is also a member of the Bahrain Association of Banks since April 2020, as well as being a member of the Future Generations Reserve as of September 2021.
Bukhowa has held several positions at Standard Chartered Bank over the course of his career, including the position of Chief Executive Officer between 2019 and 2021, Chief Executive Officer and Head of Global Banking Services in Qatar between 2017 and 2019, Bukhowa also assumed the responsibility for leading both the Financial Markets and Corporate and Institutional Banking segments in Bahrain between 2014 and 2017, and Bahrain’s Country Head of Global Markets and co-Head of Wholesale Bank between 2010 and 2014.
Bukhowa also served as the Head of Portfolio Management at the Central Bank of Bahrain from 2006 to 2010, and he was an executive at Reuters in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia between 1999 and 2006.
Bukhowa holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Texas, in the United States of America.
