Umniah Launches UCyberScout for SMEs


January 3, 2021 – Amman, Jordan: Umniah, a subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain, has launched the UCyberScout service, a move that is in line with its strategy to provide unique business services and solutions to its clients at competitive prices.


The service, which was launched as part of the Umniah Security Operation Center (SOC), provides electronic protection for computers, servers and e-mail in order to ensure the safety of an institution’s information security, and includes all devices used by employees linked to the internal network, in order to preserve data from cyber risks and threats.


Among UCyberScout’s many advantages in protecting against cyber threats, and the continuation of its business are; maintaining security of data, protecting computers from viruses and malware (anti-virus and anti-malware), safe browsing of websites and checking electronic links (URLs), preventing the loss of sensitive data (DLP), controlling computer ports (devices control), controlling the applications on devices (application control), email protection, anti-phishing messages, and blocking spam mail (anti-spam).


Speaking about the new service, Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said, “UCyberScout is yet another in a series of integrated and added-value business services and solutions that Umniah provides to SMEs. Through this service, computers are protected from dangerous attacks, which guarantees the protection of businesses and their data."


Shatara went on to explain that this new service provided by the Umniah Security Operation Center (SOC) will increase the levels of protection for Umniah customers, adding that the negative impact of electronic loopholes and breaches on institutions in terms of exposure to financial losses and loss of customer confidence jeopardizes the reputation of a brand. Furthermore, the costs of repositioning a brand to its pre-breach status are frequently more expensive than developing action plans and adopting strategies to protect information and data in advance.


Umniah’s SOC has been recognized with the international ISO27001 certification for managing information security, which underlines that the company’s operations and procedures are in full compliance with international best practices, including preserving client information and secure processes when exchanging information and data. Umniah has also received the international ISO22301:2012 certification for managing business continuity, which affirms that the company implements all the necessary requirements to reduce the potential for accidents and to mitigate their negative effects by setting precautionary plans for recovery, offering its clients continuous and uninterrupted services. SOC has also received the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification from the Security Standards Council.
