Umniah has launched a strategic project to extend a fiber line connecting Amman to Aqaba via the Wadi Araba route, enhancing its internal and external network quality.
This project enhances Jordan’s digital infrastructure, enabling Umniah to deliver high-quality internet to major companies and connect border crossings in the west and south, ensuring seamless access to European and Gulf markets.
The project will improve network efficiency and service quality in the southern governorates, enhancing the experience for both individual and corporate users.
This 367-kilometer project is one of Umniah’s key infrastructure investments for 2025 and will be completed within eight months. It is being executed by Barium Construction Company and STRAND Telecommunication Technology, leading firms in Jordan’s communication infrastructure development.
Faisal Qamhiyah, CEO of Umniah, said, “Extending the fiber line between Amman and Aqaba is a strategic investment that strengthens Jordan’s position in telecommunications and enhances connectivity with regional and global markets.” He expressed his confidence that Umniah’s partnership with Barium and STRAND will ensure the project meets the highest quality standards.

Tariq Khushman, General Manager of STRAND Telecommunication Technology, highlighted the project’s importance as an opportunity to strengthen STRAND’s role in telecommunications infrastructure. He pledged to work closely with Umniah and Barium to ensure its success.
Khushman noted that the fiber line will enhance network quality in Jordan, improving companies’ communication with regional and global markets.
