Umniah, a subsidiary of the Bahraini Group Beyon, announced its exclusive sponsorship of the Jordan Young Scientist Initiative (JoYS) which took place at Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU) on June 28-29, including special support for the Social and Behavioral Sciences Award.
The Irish Embassy in Amman organizes the JoYS Initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Crown Prince Foundation, and the Queen Rania Foundation. It aims to motivate and reward youth for excelling in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. The “Social and Behavioral Sciences Award encourages scientific research in these fields and supports talented students in developing their research skills.
Samer Taha, Chief Financial Officer at Umniah said, “Our exclusive sponsorship of the JoYS Initiative reflects our belief in investing in Jordanian youth and enhancing their scientific research skills. Through this sponsorship, we aim to support the next generation of scientists and encourage innovative solutions to global challenges.”
Taha emphasized that Umniah’s strategy embraces and supports initiatives promoting education and innovation among youth, such as the JoYS Initiative, which provides an ideal platform for students to achieve their full potential. He highlighted the importance of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Award in understanding and improving the world.
The winners of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Award, presented by Umniah, were Omar Maher Badran and Hamza Kareem from the Islamic Scientific College (Boys – Jubaiha) for their project, “The Effectiveness of Bionic Reading in improving reading speed, comprehension and engagement among students with ADHD” supervised by their teacher Ashraf Abu Khait.
