November 14, 2020 – Amman, Jordan: The Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, will once again be the official sponsor and strategic partner of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020, a move that is in line with its continuous support of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jordan. This year, the GEW events, which will be held virtually from November 16 until November 22, 2020, is organized by the Queen Rania Entrepreneurship Center at the Princess Sumaya University for Technology, in collaboration with several parties in the ecosystem.
On the sidelines of the conference, The Tank will sponsor a competition for university students from Yarmouk University, Mutah University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, German Jordanian University, Al-Hussein Technical University, the University of Jordan, the Applied Science Private University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Al-Balqa’ Applied University, and the Arab Open University.

Throughout the Global Entrepreneurship Week, The Tank will host a series of activities and seminars that will be streamed on the incubator’s social media channels, including a discussion panel outlining its efforts in supporting startups and the entrepreneurship ecosystem in cooperation with Al-Ahliyya Amman University, an introductory session to information and cybersecurity, a discussion panel about the Research and Innovation Fund and the role of private sector in innovation, which will be held in cooperation with the Middle East University, a session to discuss a book that tell the stories of successful entrepreneurs, as well as a discussion panel on empowering women as a concept and entrepreneurship as a tool in cooperation with SHEE Platform.
Umniah CSR and Innovation Manager Nicole Shahin stressed the importance of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, which has become a channel for innovation among Jordan’s youth, helping to develop their spirit of entrepreneurship and to motivate them through the exploration of creative ideas. She said that The Tank’s strategic partnership and sponsorship of the event is a source of pride for the incubator, adding her praise for the efforts exerted by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship in organizing the week’s events.
According to Shahin, the week is an occasion to highlight the role that entrepreneurs and startups play. She went on to add that innovative projects and startups are the source of creating solutions for the challenges facing the national economy, especially during COVID19 Pandemic.
Shahin also spoke of The Tank’s continuous determination to support and strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the Kingdom,. As part of its strategy, The Tank embraces a number of pillars including financial and technical support, legal consultation, business development, marketing, providing office space, facilitating professional licensing, tax and customs exemptions, and other services, which are extended annually to more than 5,000 beneficiaries. Annually, The Tank incubates 10 startups and 10 virtual startups.
