Umniah Renews its Support for the Ma’an Knowledge Station for the Tenth Year, Reaching Over 20,000 People

July 27, 2021 – Amman, Jordan: Umniah has announced its continued support for the Ma’an Hashemite Knowledge Station for the tenth consecutive year, a move that is directly in line with its tireless efforts to empower local communities technologically as a mean of building a digital and knowledge-based economy.

Since its establishment in July 2011 under the umbrella of the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation, Umniah has committed to supporting the Hashemite Knowledge Station by equipping it and providing it with Internet services. The station is a pillar of the local community, offering training seminars, photocopying and printing services, and electronic services including employment applications, university applications, Hajj applications, non-criminal letters and other support services. Over the past ten years, the station’s services have benefited more than 20,000 people.

Speaking about the renewal of the partnership, Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said, “Umniah is thrilled to have been part of the Ma’an Hashemite Knowledge Station’s journey over the past ten years, and we are proud of its achievements in serving the people of the governorate as well as its contribution to the eradication of computer illiteracy and reducing the digital gap by encouraging individuals to use ICT tools.”

Shatara went on to add that Umniah has been a big supporter of the Knowledge Stations in Ma’an and Mafraq, which is in line with its conviction in the importance of investing, empowering and developing human resources, giving them the tools that allow them to innovate and excel as a way of serving their country and economy and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development.

The initiative to establish information technology and community service centers, which was later renamed the Jordanian Knowledge Stations Initiative, was launched in 2001 in response to His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to transition to a digital and knowledge-based economy. The vision aimed to ultimately bridge the digital gap between the governorates of Jordan by advancing the skills of the workforce, increasing the competitiveness of the job market and raising productivity levels. To that end, all efforts must be integrated in order to contribute to achieving comprehensive economic and social development that directly and positively impacts the lives and well-being of the country’s people.
