Umniah Praises TRC’s Efforts to Increase Network Capacities of Telecommunications Companies in Jordan Amman, Jordan, 20 March 2020: Umniah has expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to provide additional frequencies and increase network capacities for telecommunications companies in Jordan, in order to help them ensure the continuous delivery of the best services to their customers in light of the current events. Umniah has praised the recent decisions made by the TRC and its uninterrupted support for the efforts of various national institutions to alleviate the consequences of this crisis and support the country and its people in overcoming it peacefully. Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said: “We are proud of the efforts of the TRC, under the leadership and direction of Chief Commissioner Dr. Ghazi Jbour, and its constant and uninterrupted support to assist and enhance the performance of Jordanian telecommunications companies by providing additional frequencies, which will in turn contribute to increasing network capacities and ensuring the delivery of the best services to the customers of these companies.” Shatara expressed Umniah’s appreciation for the great efforts of Prime Minister Dr. Omar Razzaz and Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneur Engineer Mothanna Gharaibeh, and their support for the Jordanian telecommunications sector. Shatara pointed out that the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has formed a crisis cell to monitor all developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as develop the most appropriate plans for the telecommunications sector, which is considered one of the most vital sectors in Jordan, and thus requires ensuring the optimal performance of its networks in order to facilitate the delivery of the best services, especially in light of the current circumstances, which have increased the percentage demand for these services by customers at all times. Shatara noted that Umniah will continue to harness its capabilities and resources to stand hand in hand with the country and enhance its national position and social role to support the efforts of national institutions and provide the best services to its subscribers, at the highest efficiency, especially after the TRC has decided to provide free frequencies that will enable the company to raise the capacity of its network in order to cater to the increasing number of users. Increasing the network capacity will also support the efforts of the Ministry of Education in providing distance learning for school students, which begins on Sunday 22 March, as it provides Umniah subscribers free access to the “Darsak” e-learning platform, without any deductions on their credit balances or internet packages on their mobile phones or home internet subscriptions. Umniah’s special operations centers and engineers work around the clock to monitor the traffic on the network and maintain 24/7 service delivery to customers, without interruption, while ensuring a rapid response to any challenges that might occur. -End-
