Umniah Announces Winners of “The 8Log” Writing Competition for Jordanian Universities Amman, Jordan, 18 December 2019: In conjunction with World Arabic Language Day, which falls on Wednesday 18 December 2019, Umniah has announced in a ceremony held at the Kempinski Hotel Amman, the winners of the first three places in “The 8Log” Writing Competition for students of Jordanian universities. The competition, which was launched by Umniah in the beginning of November, saw the participation of dozens of students of Jordanian universities, with three of them qualifying for the final stage. In the final stage, a committee consisting of Hanadi Hussein from Mawdoo3.com, Nojoud Sarhan from the Crown Prince Foundation and Batoul Arnaout from Umniah, announced the winners of the competition. Saja Amro won the first place for her article titled “Huntington’s Chorea Disease”, Alaa Hammouri won the second place for her article titled “My Way to a Medical Diet”, and Amal Abu Reshtah came in the third place for her article titled “Shifting from Technology to TechNOlogy”. During the ceremony, prizes and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the winning students of the first three places, in the presence of representatives of Jordanian universities, journalists, and social media influencers. Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara congratulated the winners of the competition and said: “The articles that were submitted to the competition showed a high level of creativity and excellence by students of Jordanian universities, and the winning articles presented out-of-the-box ideas using innovative and unique writing methods, while covering the various topics of the competition and adhering to scientific rigor.” “This writing competition by “The 8Log” is in line with our efforts to support and spread creativity among the youth. “The 8Log” strives to quench the thirst of knowledge seekers and stimulate their minds by providing them with diverse and interesting content. “The 8Log” empowers young executives, managers, students, and entrepreneurs with an ideal destination for Arabic content inspired by their aspirations, needs, and interests,” Shatara added. A jury made up of writers and bloggers evaluated participating articles using a thorough evaluation and arbitration process, based on criteria represented by the use of clear and concise language, writing in a simple and uncomplicated manner, and providing new and interesting information on topics such as technology, cyber security, information protection, sports, entertainment, electronic games, travel, health, art, culture, and lifestyle. The winning articles will be published on “The 8Log” and across Umniah’s social media channels. The 8Log, which was launched in February this year with the goal of enriching Arabic content on the internet and providing young people with information from a varied and reliable source, has produced more than 260 articles so far, and several Jordanian success stories.
