February 2, 2022 – Amman, Jordan As part of the Kingdom’s celebrations to mark His Majesty King Abdullah II’s birthday, Umniah partnered with the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) to plant trees in four public schools that are part of Umniah’s Forsa initiative, which aims to renovate sports complexes and playgrounds at a number of government schools.
The trees, which include ornamental and fruit trees, were planted at the Al-Fath Secondary School for Boys in Amman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques School for Boys in Zarqa, Al-Hashmiya Co-Ed Secondary School in Zarqa and Beit Idas Secondary Comprehensive Co-Ed Secondary School in Irbid.
Umniah selected the four schools from within the framework of the initiatives it has been spearheading as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. At the forefront of the company’s CSR agenda is the five-year, JD1 million Forsa initiative, launched in November 2021 to renovate and repair playgrounds and sports fields in schools around the country.
Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara congratulated His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein on his 60th birthday, adding that his efforts to promote Jordan have led to the country’s prominent status on the world stage. Shatara went on to speak about the tree-planting initiative, which is directly in line His Majesty King Abdullah II’s tireless work to serve the country and its people, and is one Umniah’s contributions to further sustainable and comprehensive development.
Umniah’s Forsa initiative supports the Ministry of Education’s efforts of providing a healthier and safer learning environment for students while simultaneously focusing on improving their mental and physical health and helping them adopt healthy habits that include sports, which will work in their favor with their return to their schools and face-to-face learning following an absence of more than a year and a half as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
