Umniah Launches the Third 8Log Writing Competition for Jordanian University Students

March 1, 2022 – Amman, Jordan: For the third year, Umniah announced the launch of its writing competition for university students on its blog, The 8Log, a move that is in line with its mission of enriching Arabic content available online and discovering new and talented young writers.

Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said that the launch of the third writing competition came after the tremendous success of the first two, with hundreds of entries received from Jordanian university students with innovative ideas and a love of writing.

The previous edition of the competition saw the participation of 129 male and female students from 16 Jordanian universities, with Al Al-Bayt University student Muayad Ahmed Ayed Al-Shara’ winning first place, followed by Princess Sumaya University student Omar Radwan Al-Rahwanji coming in second and Wafaa Amer Omar Al-Hamawi from the University of Jordan placing third.

University students who want to take part in the competition should submit their entries, which must be 500 words or less, before Monday, March 21st, 2022, on categories spanning the topics of technology, cybersecurity, entertainment, lifestyle, health, sports, travel, arts and culture, professional advice and entrepreneurship.

The panel of judges includes General Manager of Dinosaur Tech online portal Yazan Nofal, Edraak Director of e-courses Nisreen Al Rawashdeh, Editor-in-Chief of Hashtag Arabi Ibrahim Khreisat and Umniah Corporate Communications Supervisor Batoul Arnaout.

The winning articles will be selected based on strict set of guidelines, including the clear and concise use of the Arabic language, a simple writing style, the provision of new and stimulating information and content optimized with Google search engine.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony on March 30, 2022, and the winning articles will be published on The 8Log as well as on Umniah’s social media platforms.

The 8Log, the first blog of its kind in the Jordanian telecommunications sector, was launched in February 2019 on International Mother Language Day, under the slogan “Information with Technology”, as an ideal destination for diverse and rich content in Arabic.
