Umniah Holds its First Occupational Safety and Health Meeting

Umniah recently held its first meeting on occupational safety and health, a move that is in line with the company’s commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy and injury-free work environment for both its employees and contractors. The company’s contractors were invited to the meeting, which was held at the Sheraton Amman Al Nabil Hotel.

Participants discussed occupational safety and health issues and its requirements, as well as the accomplishments and compliance rates that have been achieved. Umniah team members also reviewed the most prominent challenges and obstacles facing occupational safety and health teams in the field and proposed solutions. Additionally, the most important achievements in the field of occupational safety and health over the past five years were highlighted, as well as future projects led by Umniah in this field, that will benefit workers in various sectors.

Umniah Director of Quality Assurance, Business Continuity, and Information Security Amjad Frouqa clarified that the meeting reflects Umniah’s commitment to protecting the health and safety of its employees and contractors as well as its endeavor to maintain its leading position in the field, with Umniah having been recognized with the 2020 Excellence Award for Occupational Safety and Health from the British Safety Council, the only Jordanian telecommunications company to receive the honor, along with more than 500 different organizations worldwide.

Frouqa added that Umniah, in partnership with its contractors and service suppliers, will continue to apply and implement the best international systems and solutions for occupational safety and health, ultimately improving the the company’s operational efficiency.

In 2020, the company launched the Umniah Health and Safety Program Award for contractors where the top three winners are announced at the beginning of each year. Umniah is also scheduled to launch an occupational safety and health app, which covers the safety of the teams working in the fields and will provide a safety database that will serve both contractors and the company.
