Umniah Funds Second Stage of Advanced Sewing Training Course in ‘Arzaq Project’, Sponsors Graduation Ceremony Amman, Jordan, 2 January 2020: As part of Umniah Al-Khair, and in support of productive projects, Umniah has sponsored the graduation ceremony of the second stage of the advanced sewing course in Arzaq Project, one of the projects of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, and Naua platform, one of the Crown Prince Foundation’s initiatives. Umniah has completely funded the advanced sewing course, which benefited 10 women, based on its belief in the importance of empowering women and enhancing their economic role in the society. The advanced training sewing course included cutting fabric, designing clothes, and producing pieces that match the clothes offered in the local market. Commenting on this support; Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said: “Umniah believes in the importance of empowering and supporting women, so they can become productive members of the Jordanian society, which is why we are constantly supporting the institutions and associations that work to achieve this goal, led by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and Naua platform.” Shatara noted that Umniah proved over the years that it is a major supporter and partner of all segments of the society, especially women, and works to integrate women into society and empower them economically so they can effectively contribute to comprehensive and sustainable economic development for the country. Ayman Al-Mufleh, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, commended the support provided by Umniah to execute the advanced training sewing course for the group of women, in addition to sponsoring the graduation ceremony, saying that this support will help empower beneficiaries who suffer from difficult living conditions, as well as change their lives for the better, so they can become productive members capable of supporting their families. Al-Mufleh added that the beneficiaries underwent intensive training for three weeks by professional sewing instructors. Beneficiaries were introduced to advanced sewing skills including how to create designs for fabric and cloth cutting, in addition to receiving training in life skills that can help them manage their small projects. Ahmed Al-Zoubi, CEO of Naua platform, praised Umniah and its pioneering role in achieving sustainable development by supporting productive projects and unique community initiatives, saying, “Umniah plays a key role in social and humanitarian work, and we at Naua highly appreciate this role because of its impact on enhancing the contribution of women to the national economy.” At the end of the course, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization’s children’s choir, who were trained as part of the ‘Tarabot’ project, the second most important project of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, presented a special collection of festive songs, while female trainees offered handmade gifts to women who benefited from the organization’s various projects. It is worth noting that, on the occasion of Mother’s Day last March, Umniah trained 15 women on the basics of sewing. The company also honored 65 of the mothers who benefited from the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization’s projects – ‘Tarabot’ and ‘Arzaq’ – by distributing gifts on the occasion, in addition to giving them the opportunity to shop for free from the ‘Clothing Bank’, which is also the third project by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization. -End-
