Umniah and RHAS Hold Health Awareness Event at Nahawand Elementary Co-Ed School in Zarqa

June xx, 2022 – Amman, Jordan: Umniah, in cooperation with the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS), recently organized a health awareness event at the Nahawand Elementary Co-Ed School in Zarqa First District, a move that is directly in line with its continuous support to both the education and health sectors. The two-hour event, which falls under the umbrella of RHAS’s Healthy Schools Program, saw the participation of volunteers from Umniah and 36 students, who were treated to nutritional advice, physical activities, a storytelling session as well as a healthy breakfast.

In December 2020, Umniah forged a strategic partnership with the Royal Health Awareness Society to implement the Healthy Schools program, which saw the telecom provider pledge to support five government schools (4 in Zarqa and one in Irbid) over a period of five years. The partners work together to create a safe and healthy learning environment, a move that will generate a dynamic, highly educated, and strong generation of leaders who will work to develop and better their society.

At the event, Umniah Director of Communications Wajeeha Al-Husseini said, “Umniah continues its pioneering role as a champion of the education and health sectors, which we consider the basis for the sustainable development process in the country through their significant impact in creating a conscious, educated generation with mental and health capabilities, thus enabling them to build a bright future for themselves and for the coming generations.”

Al-Husseini went on to add that Umniah believes in the importance of developing its role in the communities within which it operates through programs and initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life and social well-being of Jordanians. According to Al-Husseini, the telecom’s partnership with the Healthy Schools Program, adopted by Umniah two years ago, is a pillar of its corporate social responsibility strategy, furthering the vision of the initiative through fun educational activities and events for students.

Royal Health Awareness Society Director-General Dima Jweihan thanked Umniah, saying, “We appreciate the immense efforts exerted by Umniah and its team to ensure that students get the greatest possible benefit from the Healthy Schools Program, and as part of this cooperation we look forward to achieving more of our mission to create a healthy and safe learning environment for students.”

The Healthy Schools Program focuses raising awareness on public health and preventive health topics such as personal hygiene, oral and dental hygiene, physical activity, the importance of proper nutrition, and the dangers of drugs and smoking.

The Royal Health Awareness Society was established in 2005 under the directives of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah to raise health awareness and advance healthy living in local communities. It implements development programs to meet the needs of local communities in line with national health priorities, including the Healthy Schools Program.
