Umniah’s entrepreneurship and innovation incubator The Tank Announces the Winners of its First Season September 22, 2018 – Amman, Jordan: Umniah’s entrepreneurship and innovation incubator, The Tank announced on Wednesday the names of the winners in its incubation program’s new season. The announcement was made after the center evaluated more than 300 applications submitted by entrepreneurs and startups, which culminated with the selection on ten finalists. The winning companies included Takalam, Arabia Clouds, GSR App, Apercu Design, Solvillon, Hitech, Controlcast, Smart Data Logger, Dealat, and Mellbell. The panel of judges, which was made up of company executives as well as experts in their field, included Umniah Marketing Director Zaid Ibrahim, Chairman of int@j Bashar Al-Hawamdeh, Bank Al Etihad Head of SME Mahmud Badwan, Ingot Coin founder Iman Al-Mutlaq and Endeavor Jordan Managing Director Reem Goussous. At the ceremony, Ibrahim congratulated the winners, telling them that The Tank was established in accordance with the highest international standards, and has been a pioneer in the development of the communications and information technology sector by motivating and encouraging innovation. The incubator has also worked to create high-value work opportunities in order to build an economy based on knowledge and creativity. Ibrahim went on to add that The Tank also provides services that help companies develop their ideas and projects, facilitating access for them to specialized local and international entrepreneurship experts. According to Ibrahim, The Tank is the first business incubator that offers comprehensive services while simultaneously supporting business entrepreneurship and creativity in Jordan. Ibrahim explained the stages that the 300 applicants went through in order to qualify for the incubator’s latest season, adding that specialized committees sorted through the submissions in order to ensure that they fulfilled the criteria. Forty startups were selected for the initial stage, and after their technical presentations, 15 startups were selected to go through to the next round. Two sessions were held during the last stage over half a day during which commercial business presentations were made, after which 10 startup companies were selected to join the incubator. The Tank offers value-added services that include financial, technical, and technological support in order to allow companies to implement their ideas and transform them into income-generating projects. Through seminars and workshops, startups are introduced to international best practices in order to show them how to expand their customer base as well as develop their personal and creative skills. These skills lead to the development of their projects and the completion of their working models.
