The Tank Sponsors the IEEE Take Off Program and Provides Incubation Services to the Third-Place Winner

March 2023

December 22, 2020 – Amman, Jordan: In line with its continuous efforts to empower the entrepreneurial sector in Jordan, and as part of its mission to enrich the experiences of Jordanian entrepreneurs, The Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, sponsored the virtual IEEE Take Off program. During the program, which was held between November 1 and December 12, 2020, The Tank was active throughout, with a particular focus on the final round of competition.

The Take Off Program, which is a local competition that supports entrepreneurial concepts, is affiliated with the IEEE Global Foundation that comprises more than 420,000 members from 160 countries around the world. The program’s aim is to heighten community awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship, consistently working to support and embrace creative projects in a manner that ensures their success.

The Tank Entrepreneurship and Innovation Supervisor Noor Abu Jbara was a member of the competition’s jury, which has, over the years, given young innovators a platform to advance through experiences and skills that help them manage their businesses, ultimately achieving financial independence and allowing them to expand their networks.

At the event’s closing ceremony, The Tank announced that it would provide its complete set of incubation services for six months to LI-OPTICAL, the team that placed third in the competition. Also during the competition, Martha, a company currently benefiting from The Tank’s services, had the chance to chart its success story for attendees as one of the incubator’s emerging companies.

Abu Jbara also took part in a discussion panel entitled “Entrepreneurship and the Coronavirus Pandemic,” which was held on the final day of the competition, during which she reviewed the impact of the coronavirus on emerging companies. According to Abu Jbara, the pandemic, which has resulted in the world’s worst current health crisis, has caused some sectors major setbacks, but has also allowed some industries and services to flourish. Abu Jbara also spoke of The Tank’s critical and pioneering role in empowering Jordanian entrepreneurs and startups, supporting them in a way that allows them to overcome any obstacles they may come across, especially early on in their establishment. She went on to add that The Tank provides integrated virtual and in-person incubation services for startups that help them grow their businesses, as well as providing them entry into an extensive network of companies and investors from all around the world. During her remarks, Abu Jabra also stressed the importance of entrepreneurship and its vital contribution to achieving sustainable and comprehensive development by providing job opportunities for youth and reducing unemployment rates in the Kingdom.
