The Tank Hosts the Minister of Youth in a Virtual Conference Discussion Technology and Youth are the Two Main Drivers of Entrepreneurship in Jordan

September xx, 2020 – Amman, Jordan: The Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, hosted a virtual online session held in conjunction with World Entrepreneurship Day on August 21, during the session, the Minister of Youth Dr. Fares Al Braizat affirmed that technology and youth are the two main drivers for the development and enrichment of entrepreneurship in the Kingdom.

During the online session, which was moderated by The Tank’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Supervisor Noor Abu Jbara, H.E Al Braizat examined the entrepreneurship environment in Jordan during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as ways to strengthen and support the entrepreneurial role of youth in order to achieve sustainable economic growth.

H.E Al Braizat noted that recently, there has been increased attention by the government and all local institutions to entrepreneurship and its role in creating work opportunities for youth that lead to their economic empowerment. He explained that entrepreneurs and innovators are an asset that should be harnessed in order to achieve sustained development, adding that a number of youth-led entrepreneurial projects have succeeded on a regional level.

The minister of youth also stressed the importance of the technology sector as the infrastructure to develop and advance business entrepreneurship. Technology allows business entrepreneurs to access the data needed to develop their ideas and turn them into projects and services that are widely available to users through digital platforms.

During the session, H.E Al Braizat spoke about the Ministry of Youth’s flagship projects and strategies crafted in support of the youth segment in the Kingdom, giving them the tools to enhance their abilities during the exceptional circumstances brought about by the coronavirus pandemic both in Jordan and globally, which has seen an increase in poverty and unemployment levels.

Umniah CEO Mr. Ziad Shatara praised the efforts of the Ministry of Youth in championing entrepreneurship, adding that the online session was held as part of a series of virtual discussions to support startups in understanding the latest market developments as well as the trends and opportunities that have arisen due to the coronavirus pandemic.
