The Tank Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week

March 2023

November 2022 – The Tank, Umniah’s Business Incubator, arranged a series of events as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which took place from November 14th to 20th and was organized by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) at Princess Sumaya University for Technology. This is in line with The Tank’s goals and plans aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in Jordan.

The events, which included training, workshops, and discussion panels aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in Jordan, were held in collaboration with figures and experts in the field.

One of the workshops aimed at educating startups and entrepreneurs on critical topics such as the differences between selling services to businesses (B2B) and selling services to individuals in startups (B2C), as well as how each business deal differs. Moneer AlRefai, Umniah’s B2B Sales Supervisor, led the workshop.

In collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and CEWAS Middle East, The Tank also hosted a panel discussion titled “Sustainability Integration: Integration in Startups, a Need or a Must?”. During the session, Zain Abu Al Haj from Solvilion, Khaled Al Saheb, Program Manager at the EBRD, and Oweis Hammad, Project Manager at CEWAS, highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into startups. The Tank also invited entrepreneurs to work from its headquarters in the King Hussein Business Park, learning about its most prominent services and the startups that benefit from these services.

Furthermore, in collaboration with DOT JO, The Tank organized a workshop on entrepreneurship and technology at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, where Mohammad Hijjawi, Program Manager at DOT JO, and Hamzeh Al Ramli, DOT JO’s Senior Learning and Development Coordinator, presented preliminary information on entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship, as well as the most prominent technologies used in startups.

Other speakers included Khaled Al-Ahmad, Marketing Manager at Madfouatkom, who led a workshop titled “Building Your Startup’s Digital Identity on LinkedIn,” in which Al-Ahmad introduced startups to digital marketing with a focus on LinkedIn as a tool. The activities concluded with The Tank hosting more than 40 students from Entro Gate, a small entrepreneurial program that targets school students to train and provide them with entrepreneurial skills from a young age, empowering them with innovation tools and digital education.

Wajeeha Al-Husseini, Director of Communications at Umniah, expressed her pride in participating in and organizing a series of sessions and workshops on the sidelines of the Global Entrepreneurship Week organized by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship annually, noting that this event is one of the most important conferences held in Jordan, highlighting entrepreneurs and startups, as well as the companies that support and incubate them, foremost among them being The Tank.
