The Tank by Umniah Participates in the MENA ICT Forum Two Tank Startups Win First and Second Place at MENA ICT ‘Intaj’ Competition

November ** 2022 – The Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, participated in the ninth edition of the Middle East and North Africa Forum for Communications and Information Technology (MENA ICT) held on November 16 and 17 in the Dead Sea. The Tank’s participation in the forum comes as part of its commitment to actively participate in regional and international forums and conferences related to the ICT sector.
The Middle East and North Africa ICT Forum (MENA ICT), organized by the Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies “Intaj”, was officially launched in 2002, and is held every two years in Jordan, with the active participation of several local, regional and international companies.

The Tank participated in the startup village to showcase its prominent services and business solutions to its incubatees, where it provided an opportunity for four startups to attend and present their businesses at the forum. The first startup, Edurobokits, is an autonomous robot car startup, providing students who are keen on exploring Robotics technology with an educational kit, aimed at developing an educational and interactive car robot that educators can build, program, and assemble. The second startup, Yala Inn, is a platform that connects property owners with guests and is regarded as a pioneer in organizing Jordan’s chalet market.

The third participant, ScholaScope is a social media platform geared towards students and universities, enabling education seekers to fill out one universal application to save as their personal profile to connect to other students and easily apply to thousands of opportunities through the platform. The final startup participating was Math Achievers, a game in which kids enjoy learning mental math through animated explainer videos and very engaging interactive questions. Kids can also compete against each other in a multiplayer space and gain rewards.

The MENA ICT forum concluded its activities with announcing the winners of the Startup competition, in which in which 30 startups competed. ScholaScope and Math Achievers, both incubated by the Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, won first and second place.
Umniah’s Commercial Chief Officer, Zaid Al-Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of The Tank’s participation in the MENA ICT Forum in its ninth edition, in which a number of experts and businessmen from Jordan, the region, and around the world exchanged ideas, proposals, and shared the latest developments in telecommunications and business technology.

Al-Ibrahim highlighted that Umniah’s incubator, The Tank, provided the opportunity for four start-ups, who benefited from the incubator’s services to participate in the ICT forum to display their projects to businessmen as well as representatives from local, regional, and international organizations in addition to representatives from investment funds, enabling them to connect with them to develop and expand their projects. He expressed his delight and pride at the success of two of The Tank’s incubatees in the Startups competition organized by Intaj.

The forum’s aim is to highlight the role of the technology in resolving pressing issues that most nations face today, such as the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the forum covered a wide range of topics over the course of two days, including artificial intelligence, fintech, smart industries, blockchain technology, and the reality of Metaverse.
