Telecommunication Companies in Jordan provide free browsing services to Tawjihi and university students using Darsak and JUNet platforms May 17, 2020 – Amman, Jordan: Major telecommunications companies in Jordan, Umniah, Zain, and Orange, provided free Internet browsing services to Tawjihi students currently undertaking their mock examinations, and to local university students, whose final examinations began on May 16, 2020. In a move to support students during current restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, users of both Darsak or the Jordanian Universities Network (JUNet) platforms will be able to browse both platforms and access online exams free of charge. This unprecedented joint initiative was as a result of a series of consultations undertaken by the three companies with a number of relevant institutions, including the ministries of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Education, Higher Education, and the Telecommunications Regulation Commission. Through the aforementioned platforms, students will be able to access and complete online exams with ease, and without any additional charges or deductions from their internet subscriptions. The offer will remain in effect throughout the examination season. This innovative step by the telecommunication companies in Jordan demonstrates the ability of this vital industry to coordinate effectively in the service of Jordanians everywhere, and is yet another reminder of its importance in the overall national response to the pandemic. -END-
