4 November 2022 – The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS), in the presence of Dr. Najwa Qubeilat, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, recognized Umniah for its outstanding contributions to the Healthy Schools program in Zarqa and Irbid governorates, which promoted healthy practices among over 4,000 students and teachers by making their learning environment healthier and safer.

Four of the schools within the Healthy Schools Program (Fatima Bint Al-Khattab Secondary School for Girls, Nahawand Elementary School, Iskan Al-Hashimiah Elementary School, and Al-Hashimiah Secondary School), that are supported by Umniah, received certificates and a 3-year gold level accreditation from RHAS due to achieving a 90% score in each semester during the program’s accreditation period.

The ceremony which was organized by RHAS at the Royal Cultural Center under the patronage of Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and several international organizations and national institutions that support the Healthy Schools Program, in addition to higher, technical, and sub-committees of the program and the Directors of the Ministry of Education directorates, as well as school principals and health teachers at participating schools.

Zaid Al-Ibrahim, Umniah’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his appreciation for the recognition, which reflects the Ministry of Education’s and civil society organizations’ appreciation for Umniah’s vital role in supporting and enhancing the education sector as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, particularly given that quality education is the foundation of health and well-being.

Umniah’s support for the Healthy Schools program, according to Al-Ibrahim, has resulted in the promotion of healthy practices for thousands of students and teachers, as well as a safer and healthier learning environment in these schools. This assistance also aided in raising the school’s evaluation to the gold level, confirming their commitment to adhering to the RHAS health standards.

Amal Ireifij, Director of Program Development at RHAS, expressed her pleasure at recognizing the schools for this program, which has a clear impact on stimulating learning and creativity in a healthy and safe environment, which would not have been possible without the collaboration of the public, private, and civil society sectors. RHAS is proud of its long and successful collaboration with Umniah in the development of the community health sector.

The partnership between RHAS and Umniah began three years ago when Umniah adopted five schools in the governorates of Zarqa and Irbid as part of the Healthy Schools Program. As one of the most important programs of RHAS, it was launched in 2008 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, to promote and develop a healthy school environment that has a positive impact on students’ physical, social, and educational development.
