Umniah has launched a pioneering interactive campaign with “Quill,” a specialist in robotics and AI, aimed at familiarizing students in regions with 5G services with the latest digital technologies and their impact on career choices and job market opportunities.
A joint team from Umniah and “Quill” visited eight schools across Jordan. The campaign started in Amman at Al-Fat’eh School for Boys and Marj Al-Hamam Elementary School for Boys, then in Zarqa at Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Basic School for Boys and Al-Hashmiyah Co-Ed Secondary School. The team then proceeded to Mafraq, visiting King Abdullah Mixed Elementary School in Hay Al-Malik and Mafraq First Secondary School for Boys. The final stops were in Irbid at Beit Eiddes Secondary Comprehensive Co-Ed Secondary School in Irbid and Al-Sareeh Elementary School for Boys.
During these visits, interactive workshops engaged around 7,000 students in discussions about 5G technology, AI, and future career choices. The workshops highlighted the impact of rapid technological advancements on career paths and introduced students to various types of robotics, including an interactive session with a robot named Kitty. Additionally, the sessions emphasized the importance of choosing modern academic specializations and avoiding saturated fields.
Organized in schools under the “Forsa” initiative, this campaign underscored the company’s commitment to social responsibility by empowering Jordanian youth with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate technological advancements. During the visits, a robot from “Quill” was brought in to interact with students, enhancing their educational experience.
Wajeeha Al Husseini, Director of Brand & Corporate Communications, said, “We are excited to launch this unique interactive campaign with Quill, a leader in robotics. At Umniah, we see investing in youth as investing in our future. This initiative aims to introduce students in regions with our 5G service to the latest digital technologies, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to keep up with rapid technological advancements.”
Al Husseini added, “This campaign extends the “Forsa” initiative we began in 2021, created to enhance the infrastructure and educational environment in public schools. We are dedicated to empowering Jordanian youth, providing them with the opportunities needed to reach their goals. This campaign is a crucial step towards achieving that.”
Alaa Al-Khalaileh, CEO of Quill stated, “We are thrilled to be part of this inspiring initiative that aims to nurture Jordan’s next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. We believe robotics and AI are key to our future, and we are committed to introducing these technologies to young people. We value Umniah’s confidence in Quill’s ability to influence Jordan’s technological landscape and prepare students for the future by equipping them with essential tools to realize their dreams.”
The “Forsa” initiative, launched by Umniah in late 2021 in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the “Madrasati” initiative, aims to rehabilitate and renovate school playgrounds for one million dinars. By the end of 2023, it had renovated facilities at 17 schools across 10 governorates, benefiting around 12,000 students directly and approximately 45,000 citizens indirectly.
