In coordination with Tkiyet Um Ali Umniah Supports 47 Families for a Year

March 2023

April, 2022 – Amman, Jordan: Umniah announced its annual Ramadan campaign, under the umbrella of “Umniah Al-Khair,” which is committed to contributing to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) related to food security, eradicating hunger, and achieving food security, covering Amman, Zarqa, and Karak.

Umniah renewed its partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali to sponsor 47 families living below the poverty line in Jordan’s southern governorates, providing each family with a food parcel on monthly basis throughout the year, in addition to hosting a number of events during the holy month in collaboration with organizations and charities in Amman, Zarqa, and Karak.

As part of the Umniah Al-Khair campaign this year, the two institutions agreed that the campaign will support Mawae’d Al Rahman, which will be hosted at Tkiyet Um Ali’s headquarters. Furthermore, as part of UVolunteer, Umniah’s employees volunteered to help pack and distribute monthly parcels, as well as serve iftar meals to people in need with the help of Tkiyet Um Ali and other organizations.

At the launch, Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara affirmed Umniah’s commitment to its social and humanitarian responsibilities, helping make a difference by supporting underprivileged families.

The annual Ramadan campaign is based on Umniah’s belief in humanitarian principles and Ramadan’s virtues and aims to encourage volunteering among its employees during the campaign, Shatara added.

Shatara praised Tkiyet Um Ali’s efforts to combat poverty in the Kingdom and its role in making change and attaining social integration by providing food parcels to the less fortunate. He applauded Umniah’s employees for being part of the campaign and their humanitarian work, all of which encourage a culture of volunteerism at Umniah.

Tkiyet Um Ali’s General Manager, Samer Balqar said, “We would like to thank Umniah for its support of Tkiyet Um Ali’s sustainable food programs throughout the years and for its belief in Tkiyet Um Ali’s vision to end hunger in Jordan.”

Umniah Al Khair was launched 13 years ago by Umniah. Since then, Umniah has participated in hundreds of charitable and humanitarian events, including Ramadan iftars, distributing parcels to people living in extreme poverty, and working on small projects to help individuals generate income and become self-sufficient, all of which embody the principles of sustainability.

Tkiyet Um Ali works on providing sustainable food support to 20,000 families living under the poverty line across all governorates of the Kingdom. Each family receives a food parcel containing 19 items that meets their nutritional needs each month for an entire year.
