Umniah Security Operations Center (SOC) Hosts an Academic Delegation from AAU

28 March, 2023 – Umniah, a subsidiary of Bahrain’s Beyon Group, hosted at its Security Operations Center (SOC),a delegation from Amman Arab University which included academic staff and students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Informatics, led by Dr. Rami Sahwil, Head of the Cybersecurity Department, and Wiam Talafha,
The visit aimed to foster a sense of cooperation and partnership between the private and education sectors. The visit also aimed to familiarize the visiting delegation of the role and objectives of Umniah Cybersecurity Center as well as the center’s latest services and solutions, in addition to introducing them to the practical side of academic materials in the field of cybersecurity.

The center offers cutting-edge cybersecurity services and solutions to public and private sector customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week to protect their information systems from potential electronic intrusions and thefts. Furthermore, it monitors and tracks security gaps and threats in the information systems structures of businesses and institutions, while providing a variety of services to meet their needs and keep up with the growing cybersecurity threats.

Umniah’s Acting Chief Business Officer, Mahmoud Abu Zannad, stated that the Umniah SOC has held a prominent position in the Jordanian enterprise sector since its founding in 2011. The center offers cybersecurity solutions and services that meet international standards. Abu Zannad added that companies and institutions have increased their reliance on cybersecurity services to protect their data as the number of cyber-attacks and crimes has increased in recent years.

According to Abu Zannad, the center’s services reduce the risks and breaches that businesses face while also guiding them on how to handle data safely and professionally with international accreditation.
Dr. Rami Sahwil, Head of the Information Technology Department at Amman Arab University’s College of Computer Sciences and Informatics expressed his pride in the significant role played by SOC in terms of security and high-reliability solutions and services.

Sahwil also emphasized the university’s commitment to excellence by focusing on the applied aspects of the educational process, to empower students and qualify them to compete in the Jordanian labor market, as well as providing them with scientific, practical, and communication skills that will assist them when engaging in the labor market.

Umniah’s SOC is the first center in Jordan that received a PCI DSS certification from the Security Standards Council. This certification reinforces the confidence of Umniah’s customers in the strict security standards provided by the SOC through its Managed Security Services (MSS), which in turn ensures more reliability, security, and protection for their data privacy.

Umniah’s SOC obtained the international standard for an information security management system ISO27001, which is one of the most valuable and internationally recognized certifications and increases the overall efficiency and quality of the organization, and the confidence of its customers from both the public and private sectors.
