Umniah holds Cybersecurity Workshop for the Banking and Financial Services Sector

December 2022- Umniah, a subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain, held a workshop on the most prominent services and solutions offered in the cybersecurity sector to its customers from the banking and financial services sector, in cooperation with several of its notable business partner as part of Umniah’s effort to demonstrate its leadership in the field of cybersecurity and to shed light on the innovative services Umniah has to offer this sector.

Representatives from banking financial services institutions as well as insurance companies attended the workshop, which covered topics in data protection especially those that complies with the Central Bank of Jordan’s requirements and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship’s draft law on personal data protection. The information security team at Umniah discussed the Digital Forensics Investigator Service and Incident Response, a representative from NETSCOUT discussed DDoS protection solutions, and a representative from NetWitness presented network detection and response solutions (NDR Solution), as well as solutions for preventing data leakage from GTB Technologies.

Commenting on the workshop, Umniah’s Chief Commercial Officer Zaid Al-Ibrahim said, “At Umniah, we strive to provide our customers from both the private and public sectors with the latest cybersecurity solutions and services to protect the information systems from potential electronic security breaches and theft; this improves the performance and efficiency of these businesses, lowering their overall costs.”

Al-Ibrahim stated that these services are provided by the Security Operation Center (SOC), the Information Security Team, and the Network Security Team, noting that the center works around the clock, seven days a week, to monitor and track gaps and security threats in the structure of the information systems of companies and institutions, providing them with various services that meet their needs and the increasing evolution of cybersecurity threats. Clarifying that the data privacy protection provided by Umniah to its customers complies with global and local legislation, laws, and regulations.

Umniah’s Security Operation Center (SOC) is internationally accredited, holding numerous international certificates that have bolstered Umniah’s leadership role in the field of cybersecurity and information security. Umniah received the MSSP Partner award from NetWitness, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions. The center also holds PCI-DD and ISO27001 certifications
