For the third year, Umniah announced the winners of the Health and Safety Contractors Award during a special ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Amman on Thursday. This ceremony honored outstanding contracting companies for their exceptional commitment to the health and safety standards set by Umniah.
Following Umniah’s evaluation criteria, which includes specific health and safety conditions and requirements for field operations, such as adherence to personal protective equipment usage, site safety setups, and safety practices, Fifth Generation for Engineering Services (5GESCO) won first place. Research and Development R&D Co. took second place, and the United Telecom UTC came in third. Additionally, the SMART Company for Engineering Services received the Health and Safety Gateway Award, launched in 2022, which serves as a communication platform between Umniah and its contractors for health, safety, announcements, and regular news updates.
The ceremony highlighted the achievements of the winning contracting companies to encourage a culture of safety excellence across all Umniah projects. It also provided a forum to discuss recurring health and safety issues or challenges, aiming to address them and promote an ideal work environment where safety is prioritized by everyone.
Speeches were delivered by Amjad Frouqa, Director of Business Continuity and Information Security at Umniah, and Alaa Ibrahim, Chief Technical Officer at Umniah. They emphasized the importance of the program in fostering a culture of safety among Umniah’s contractors, aligning with Umniah’s strategic vision to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
The speakers highlighted the close partnership between Umniah and its contractors, which has helped both parties overcome numerous challenges. This cooperation has strengthened the implementation of effective procedures and systems that ensure compliance with health and safety standards. They expressed gratitude to all the contractors for their high-quality technical work and adherence to occupational health and safety requirements.
They noted that contractors’ compliance with health and safety requirements exceeded expectations and aligned with the company’s goals. They also emphasized Umniah’s ongoing investment in training employees on the latest health and safety standards and technologies to ensure a safe working environment for everyone.
