Umniah’s The Tank is the Strategic Partner of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020

December 1, 2020 – Amman, Jordan: The Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, was the strategic partner for the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020, a move that is in line with the incubator’s support for business entrepreneurship and Jordanian entrepreneurs. This is the second consecutive year that the Tank has sponsored the event, which this year was held virtually and organized by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship between November 16 and November 22.

Umniah supports entrepreneurship and innovation, joining forces to annually celebrate innovators and business entrepreneurs in one of the world’s most prominent global events. Each year, on the sidelines of the week-long Global Entrepreneurship Week, numerous activities and seminars are held to motivate and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among youth with ambitious and innovative ideas.

During the event, The Tank hosted a series of activities and seminars that were streamed on its social media platforms, including a session outlining its efforts in supporting entrepreneurship ecosystem. Held in cooperation with the Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the seminar featured Umniah Marketing Director Zaid Ibrahim as an expert panelist. The Tank also held an introductory seminar on information security and cybersecurity, hosted by Malek Al-Zuwayri from Umniah’s cybersecurity team, as well as a seminar held in cooperation with Middle East University on the Research and Innovation Fund and the role of the private sector in championing innovation as well as the efforts of the National Center for Innovation in managing the innovation ecosystem. The Tank also hosted a workshop on entrepreneurial success stories as well as a discussion session on women economic empowerment entitled “Women Empowerment as a Concept and Entrepreneurship as a Tool” in cooperation with SHEE Platform. Umniah Director of Communications Wajeeha Al-Husseini was a panelist in a workshop moderated by The Tank Entrepreneurship and Innovation Supervisor Noor Abu Jbara.

Speaking about the company’s sponsorship of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020, Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said that the partnership between The Tank and the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship has been a fruitful one, commending the exceptional efforts exerted by the center in the organization of the event for entrepreneurs and startups. Shatara went on to add that The Tank’s participation and in the Global Entrepreneurship Week during these exceptional circumstances stemming from the global coronavirus pandemic reinforces the incubator’s increasingly important role in supporting entrepreneurship and startups in the Kingdom, particularly at a time when superior problem-solving skills are required to find solutions to issues exacerbated by the virus, which startups are especially skillful at.

Shatara also outlined the steadfast efforts by both Umniah and The Tank to support startups in Jordan, providing them with a positive and motivating environment. He added that The Tank was founded as per the highest international specifications to provide startups with incubation services that include business development, as well as financial and technical support that help turn ideas into successful projects.
