Umniah’s The Tank Hosts Workshop on Design Thinking for its Start-ups

August 24, 2021 – Amman, Jordan: The Tank, Umniah’s business incubator, held a training workshop on design thinking on the occasion of World Entrepreneur’s Day, which is observed annually on August 21. The workshop, which took place at The Tank’s headquarters at the King Hussein Business Park, is in line with the incubator’s commitment to fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship in the Kingdom

The Tank provides complete incubation services to entrepreneurs, including information on the latest advances in the world of innovation and creativity, with special attention paid to the ethos of design thinking, which is a dynamic process to redefine problems, find innovative solutions and challenge previously held assumptions. Design thinking is based on the premise of positive thinking and also involves focusing on the client and enhancing the skills of the workforce, which ultimately fuels innovation and competition in the market.

The workshop was held on August 17 and 18 and was run by of Superiors TechHub Founder and Chief Technical Officer Ala’a Agha Karss, who is also a design thinking certified trainer. In her material, she stressed the importance of design thinking as a way to find dynamic, innovative, non-linear solutions to challenges. She also touched on the different schools of design thinking, the differences between them, how to harness them to identify people’s needs, understanding and practicing empathy as well as divergent thinking using the blending theory.

The sessions were attended by more than 10 startups incubated at The Tank, who engaged in vibrant discussions about how to build prototypes, how to make ideas more effective and express them more clearly, while simultaneously inspiring others through their work.

Over the past two seasons, The Tank has incubated 47 companies both in person and virtually, with more than 7,000 people ultimately benefiting. The Tank also held more than 150 events each year and worked to establish partnerships with organizations that support entrepreneurship and innovation. The Tank also sponsored the attendance of its startups at local and international conferences, and hosted workshops on innovation and entrepreneurship for school and university students.
