Held in cooperation between the Madrid-based What Really Matters Foundation and Rise for Good, a Jordanian non-profit presided by HRH Princess Lara Faisal, the ‘What Really Matters’ congress will take place at the Royal Cultural Centre in Amman on 15 September, with the participation of over 1600 high school students from various public and private schools in Jordan. During the press conference, many inspiring Jordanian and Arab speakers talked about their lives and life circumstances and how they were able to overcome challenges and achieve success. Speakers included Syrian sisters Yusra and Sara Mardini, Tunisian poet Anis Chouchene, Egyptian adventurer Omar Samra, and Jordanian entrepreneur Rawan Barakat, the founder of Raneen Foundation, who talked about her life and the role Umniah played in helping her realize her dreams despite being visually impaired. Zaid Ibrahim, Marketing Director at Umniah, said that Umniah’s sponsorship of the ‘What Really Matters’ congress is part of Umniah’s strategy to empower youth and support them to achieve their aspirations and dreams, stressing the importance of the event in highlighting human values among youth, through powerful and inspirational personal accounts and life stories of speakers who managed to overcome obstacles and achieve success in their lives. Ibrahim noted that Umniah is one of the leading Jordanian companies to support and enable youth, with a prominent role in helping many of them realize their dreams and aspirations. The congress will feature a video by Umniah with positive messages by members of the Umniah Youth Unit to students attending the event, urging them to believe in their dreams and never give up. The ‘What Really Matters’ congresses are free, non-political, non-religious events open to all beliefs, ideas and opinions, and are held in major cities around the globe with the aim of promoting universal human values among the youth through the powerful and inspirational personal accounts and life stories of their speakers. Since 2007, more than 150 congresses have been held in over 23 cities around the globe, where more than 200,000 students from all walks of life listened to impressive life stories from a diverse community of individuals that have overcome adversity, thrived in the face of challenge, and through example, have demonstrated their commitment to, and belief in, the values that foster personal growth, social responsibility and human development.
