Umniah Protects its Customers with Secure Cloud, Offering Top-Notch IT Security SecuCloud Security system made in Germany gives Jordanian telecommunications company a new revenue stream Umniah, a subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain, has consistently been an early adopter of technologies that benefit its customers. The company is one of the biggest telecommunications companies in Jordan and has the backing of Batelco Bahrain, which boasts a total of 9.4 million customers in 14 countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The company decided to provide customers with innovative protection functions able to stand up to today’s risk and threat situation. Umniah, which is a pioneer in offering its customers the latest and most cutting-edge services, partnered with SecuCloud, a cloud-based security company. The SecuCloud system uses a combination of powerful security mechanisms. These include anti-phishing, anti-malware, anti-bot, anti-hacking and anti-anonymizer tools. Before sending any data to the user’s device, the solution analyzes it and verifies that it’s harmless. Threats like viruses, Trojans and other malware are blocked automatically before they reach the user’s system. Speaking about his company’s partnership with Secure Cloud, Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said: “Our future-oriented strategy gives us the flexibility and agility we need to position ourselves as a pioneer in Jordan’s digital future. That’s why it was our goal to use the latest digital technologies to protect our customers.” Shatara went on to add, “To find the right technology, we conducted a thorough search of the market. Secucloud’s cloud-based approach stood out as our favorite right from the start. With the reputation and quality of a German provider, the company provides us with the ideal technology to let us add a security component to our offerings – firmly entering a new era in digital services in order to protect our clients from all cyber threats.” Umniah, which signed the partnership agreement with Secucloud in early 2018, itself benefits from the power and flexibility of the Secucloud solution. As it’s based in the cloud, it can support almost any number of users with no impact on performance and can scale flexibly according to requirements. That enables all customers to be protected with one and the same solution, regardless of their contract type or specific requirements. According to Shatara, “We wanted to see the solution’s performance for ourselves, so we put it through extensive tests. The results were exceptionally positive; it completely fulfilled all our expectations in terms of both performance and usability.” According to Secucloud CEO Dennis Monner, “We’re also providing Umniah with the highest levels of flexibility for its future. Our ECS² system has a completely modular structure, which allows for new functions to be added to it – such as those based on emerging technology innovations – whenever required. That lets Umniah provide its customers with state-of-the-art technology both now and in the future, while keeping pace with the latest evolution of the threat situation.” Following the successful completion of the six-month implementation phase, the security service has been part of Umniah’s portfolio since September. To promote the new Secucloud service, Umniah is activating it for the relevant customers free of charge for one month. To subscribe to the service, the customer can dial *8# and will be charged JD 0.88 per month thereafter. During this trial period, users receive detailed statistics about the attacks and threats blocked by the solution. That way, users can see for themselves how effective it is in practice. Once the trial period is over, they can simply add the service to their existing mobile contract with just one click in order to maintain the protection of their devices, or simply cancel their subscriptions. “Right from the start, we saw that the solution was designed with the end user in mind,” says Shatara. “Customers can add a subscription to cloud-based protection to their existing contract and the protection starts immediately. At the same time, the system works almost invisibly in the background; as there’s no software to install, there are no compromises on performance or other negative influences that could affect battery life.” -End-
