Umniah Kicks Off Telematch Activities in Public Schools as part of its Forsa Initiative

March 2023

May 21, 2022 – Amman, Jordan: Umniah kicked off telematch activities to inaugurate the playgrounds of public schools that are part of the Forsa initiative, in cooperation with Madrasati one of Queen Rania Foundation initiatives. Umniah’s Forsa initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which supports and implements long-term projects that have a sustainable impact on the educational sector in local communities and improves the quality of education in all schools across the Kingdom.

The telematch activities highlights the scope of JD1 million Forsa initiative, which was launched by Umniah at the end of 2021 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education to improve and renovate school playgrounds and sports complexes over a five-year period across the country as a way of creating a healthy lifestyle, enriching their values and increasing their confidence in the ecosystem of their schools, especially after the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

A team from Madrasati spearheaded the activities and incorporated participants from schools that have already seen their playgrounds renovated during the period of May 15-18, including the Al-Hashmiyah Co-Ed Secondary School and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Basic School for Boys in Zarqa, the Beit Eiddes Secondary Comprehensive Co-Ed Secondary School in Irbid, and Al-Fat’eh Secondary School for Boys in Amman.

A two-hour tele-match competition was held for each school, which saw the participation of 60 students working under the supervision of a team of volunteers from Umniah’s UVolunteer Program in cooperation with Nahno, a national platform for youth launched in 2019 by the Crown Prince Foundation. Also as part of the events, workshops for teachers in each school were held in cooperation with Madrasati, offering resources on to how to provide a richer learning environment, making use of innovative resources and developing activity-based educational opportunities that further creative thinking.

Umniah CCO Zaid Al-Ibrahim stressed the important role played by Forsa in elevating the school environment for students, enriching their values and increasing their confidence in the ecosystem of their schools. Additionally, the initiative improves their mental and physical health by providing them with a stronger and safer learning environment, helping them adopt healthy habits that include sports, which will work in their favor after the absences caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Al-Ibrahim went on to add that Forsa is directly in line with Umniah’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which aims to support different sectors with a focus on healthcare and education, that have a sustainable and comprehensive impact on communities across the country. According to Al-Ibrahim, Forsa will also provide new volunteering opportunities on Nahno, with ample opportunities to volunteer in school beautification activities including planting trees, painting walls as well as running workshops and training courses for students.
