In Cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Special Communications Commission and Umniah Third Phase of School Connectivity and Electronic Protection Project Launched to Strengthen Digital Infrastructure

Amman – The Ministry of Education, the Special Communications Commission of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, and Umniah, a Beyon company, have launched the third phase of the “School Connectivity and Electronic Protection Project” under a renewed cooperation agreement that will remain in effect for one year, and automatically renew for an additional year.

The new phase aims to strengthen the education sector’s digital infrastructure and enhance schools’ willingness to meet the demands of modern education and digital transformation, bringing the total number of schools and government sites covered by the project to more than 3,550 across the Hashemite Kingdom.

The project builds on a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Education, the Special Communications Commission, and Umniah dating back to 2016. This partnership has delivered a secure, unified digital communications network connecting schools, education directorates and the Ministry’s headquarters. It has also helped lay the foundation towards digital transformation across the education sector, supporting the continuity of the educational process and improving the efficiency of its management.

The third phase was launched during a ceremony marking the signing of the renewed cooperation agreement, attended by Minister of Education Dr. Azmi Mahafzah; Umniah Chief Executive Officer Faisal Al Jalahma, and Muneeb Tashman, Director of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Educational Technology and Information.

This project is considered to be one of the Kingdom’s leading digital transformation initiatives in the education sector. It continues to advance the digital infrastructure of public schools by providing a cohesive system of advanced communications and electronic protection technologies. These solutions will help create a more efficient educational environment, enhance security and reliability, and ensure that schools are equipped to keep pace with the requirements of modern education.

The third phase will upgrade the digital infrastructure of the targeted schools through an integrated system that includes interconnectivity services (MPLS), unified communications services (UCC), smart camera surveillance systems (CCTV), and time and attendance monitoring and fingerprint verification devices (TAM). It will also train the infrastructure in order to accommodate artificial intelligence applications and future digital solutions, strengthening the project’s long-term sustainability and ability to keep up with fast technological developments.

Minister of Education Dr. Azmi Mahafzah said: “This project represents an advanced national model of collaboration between public and private sector. It gives practical effect to Royal orders calling for modern technology to be harnessed in advancing education. The collaboration goes beyond expanding the number of beneficiary schools; it also strengthens the education system’s readiness to adopt more advanced digital solutions that support the quality of education and the efficiency of its management.”

Dr. Mahafzah added: “The project provides a secure, integrated digital communications network connecting the Ministry with education board of directors and public schools. This will help improve the management of the educational process, ensure the reliability of electronic examinations, support the digitization of curricula, and provide students, teachers and administrative staff with a secure and fully cohesive digital environments. It will also accelerate the exchange of information and support informed decision-making.”

Dr. Mahafzah also praised the technical role of the Special Communications Commission of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the strategic partnership with Umniah, which has served as a technology partner and contributed to the project’s implementation over the years in accordance with the highest technical and security standards.

Umniah Chief Executive Officer Faisal Al Jalahma said: “The continuation of the project into its third phase reflects the ongoing confidence in the partnership between Umniah, the Ministry of Education and the Special Communications Commission, as well as the tangible impact this partnership has had on the development of the education sector’s digital infrastructure over the past several years.”
