Umniah announced its support for the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship’s (MoDEE) Qesa Tech initiative. This initiative focuses on training and employing female graduates in Jordan’s telecommunications and IT sector. The support aligns with Umniah’s commitment to the women’s empowerment principles (WEPs) issued by the UN Women.

In a step towards reinforcing this commitment, Umniah has signed an agreement with MoDEE to hire women graduates in positions matching their university specializations. Following comprehensive training encompassing digital and life skills, as well as English proficiency, this initiative aims to empower and equip them for professional roles.

Diana Saidi, Director of HR and Corporate Affairs at Umniah, said, “We are proud to sign this agreement with the MoDEE, which aligns with our commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality in the workforce. Qesa Tech holds great significance, and we anticipate it will enhance employment opportunities for women in the telecommunications and IT sector.”

Saidi added, “Women in the telecom and IT sector have demonstrated the skills essential for success and excellence, making distinctive contributions to this sector’s development. At Umniah, we work independently or collaboratively with partners to unleash their full potential.”

Ola Yaghi, Head of Digital Skills affirmed the ministry’s commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality, spanning various sectors, notably telecommunications and IT. The commitment is exemplified by Qesa Tech, which promotes equal opportunities for women in these fields. This initiative addresses gender disparities, boosts female participation in the relevant sectors, and contributes to sustainable and comprehensive development in the country.

Yaghi explained that the first phase of Qesa Tech has been completed. Launched in June 2022, the initiative led to the employment of a specified number of female graduates in the telecommunications and IT sector for 2023. This success was attained through collaboration with several companies that met the outlined selection criteria.
