May 2025

As part of its ongoing efforts to support and empower the education sector, Umniah has signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Education to provide the ministry with comprehensive IT services aimed at transforming traditional classrooms into smart classrooms. This will enable students to take their General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) exams online.

Minister of Education Dr. Azmi Mahafzah emphasized the importance of the Electronic Connectivity and Protection Project, implemented in collaboration with Umniah, in preparing the necessary infrastructure to deliver connectivity services to classrooms. This initiative aims to leverage modern technology to enhance the efficiency of the educational process.

This announcement came during a meeting between Dr. Mahafzah and Umniah CEO Faisal Al Jalahma, attended by Eng. Muneeb Tashman, Director of the Queen Rania Center for Education and Information Technology, and Iyad Jabr, Chief Business Officer at Umniah.

Dr. Mahafzah praised the collaborative relationship between the Ministry and public and private sector institutions, highlighting its importance in supporting education. He described the partnership between the Ministry and Umniah as a significant step in advancing and digitizing the education sector and modernizing its methodologies. He expressed hope for the success of this initiative and its ability to achieve the intended goals.

He added that digitizing the Tawjihi exams will contribute to improving the efficiency of the educational system and expanding access to educational services for students across the Kingdom. He expressed hope that this partnership with Umniah would serve as a model for public-private sector cooperation.

For his part, Umniah CEO Faisal Al Jalahma expressed pride in the company’s partnership with the Ministry of Education on this national project, calling it a vital step toward digital transformation in Jordan’s education sector. He noted that Umniah is not just a technology service provider but a strategic partner and leader in supporting education. The company has carried out several pioneering initiatives, most notably the Electronic Connectivity and Protection Project that helped strengthen schools’ technological infrastructure, and the “Forsa” (Opportunity) initiative aimed at empowering students and providing an advanced learning environment.

Al-Jalahma added that Umniah’s role in this project, ranging from device installation to ongoing technical support, reflects its firm commitment to supporting education and advancing the goals of national digital transformation. He emphasized that Umniah considers education a cornerstone of societal development and continually works to innovate solutions that elevate students’ futures.

In this context, Al Jalahma affirmed Umniah’s intention to expand its contributions to include other vital sectors through the provision of advanced digital solutions that enhance efficiency, transparency, and alignment with national digital transformation efforts. He stressed that sectoral integration is essential for achieving sustainable development and that Umniah’s partnerships with both public and private institutions will continue to grow in service of the nation and its citizens.

Iyad Jabr, Chief Business Officer at Umniah, also emphasized the importance of this project in driving digital transformation within the education sector. He described it as a qualitative leap in developing the learning environment in Jordan.

He added that Umniah fully understands the importance of equipping schools with the latest technologies to provide a learning environment aligned with global developments and to enhance students’ skills in using modern technologies. He expressed hopes for the project’s success and Umniah’s continued support for the Ministry of Education in achieving a shared vision of innovative and effective digital education.

As part of the previously announced tender, Umniah will install devices in 500 schools and implement projects in 800 classrooms and laboratories across Jordan.

It is worth noting that digitizing the Tawjihi exam is part of the Ministry of Education’s broader plan to modernize assessment methods and improve the overall efficiency of the education system. The ministry aims to leverage modern technology to enhance the quality of education while ensuring fairness and transparency in student evaluation.
