Umniah Reinforces its Commitment to Technological Innovation and Expands its 5G Network Coverage to Include Mafraq Governorate

Amman, Jordan Umniah, a subsidiary of BEYON Group of Bahrain, today announced the launch of the first phase of its 5G services in Al Mafraq Governorate. This is a significant step towards bringing the benefits of this transformative technology to more customers across the Kingdom.

With this expansion, the total number of Jordanian governorates covered by Umniah’s 5G network, U5G, reaches five. In addition to Mafraq, which is known for its high population density, the network now covers Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, and Aqaba. The number of households currently benefiting from these services is around 15,000, and this number is expected to increase significantly after adding more new sites.

This step reflects Umniah’s commitment to supporting Jordan’s strategic directions and vision for leading the digital future and keeping pace with the wheel of smart transformation in various fields.

Qamhiyah pointed out Umniah’s keenness to form strategic partnerships with leading companies in the field of communications, most notably Ericsson, and to use its (MIMO) technology to ensure keeping pace with the latest developments in 5G technology in more than 700 locations in four main governorates: Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, and Aqaba.

Qamhiyah confirmed that expanding the coverage of the 5G network will create a qualitative leap in various aspects of life in Jordan, which will support the progress and prosperity of the Kingdom. He pointed out that Umniah will continue its pioneering role in providing its customers with the latest and most advanced communication solutions to ensure a smooth and reliable experience while enjoying the full benefits of 5G, such as improved speeds, capacity, and responsiveness.

It is worth noting that Umniah was the first Jordanian telecom operator to launch commercial 5G services in Jordan in April 2023, where the company allocated approximately $400 million over the next five years. This investment covers equipment, technologies, advertising, sales channels, and human resources, while $100 million of this investment was allocated in 2023 alone.
