Approximately JOD 300 Million in New Investments Over the Next Five Years

 

Umniah has officially unveiled its new brand identity as “Umniah by Beyon”, marking the start of a new chapter of growth, innovation, and regional integration. This strategic transformation reflects the company’s evolution as part of the Beyon Group, the regional technology group known for its leadership in digital innovation and advanced ICT solutions.

The new identity was revealed during a ceremony attended by members of the Royal Family, ministers, senior officials, diplomats, and media representatives. Hosted by Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Beyon Group, the event celebrated 20 years of successful investment in Jordan and included the announcement of new investments worth approximately JOD 300 million in Jordan over the next five years, underscoring Beyon’s long-term commitment to advancing the Kingdom’s digital economy.

This transformation represents a natural continuation of Umniah’s journey with its parent group. Since joining Batelco Bahrain in 2006, Umniah has experienced significant growth and development within the group. In 2022, Batelco itself became part of Beyon, which is today recognized as a regional technology group with investments spanning 17 markets across three continents. This affiliation now provides Umniah by Beyon with greater access to global expertise, innovation capabilities, and resources, enabling it to play a stronger role in supporting Jordan’s digital transformation, in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s Economic Modernization Vision.

Since its founding in 2005, Umniah has played a pivotal role in transforming Jordan’s telecommunications landscape. The company has helped enhance competition, expand consumer choice, and introduce pioneering digital services. Its achievements include the commercial launch of the Kingdom’s first 5G network, being named one of the fastest-growing companies in 2024, and winning Ookla’s “Fastest Mobile Network in Jordan” award for three consecutive years.

Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Sami Smeirat, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, affirmed that the launch of Umniah’s new brand identity marks an important milestone in the trajectory of Jordan’s telecommunications sector and reflects the sector’s dynamism and its role in advancing digital transformation and fostering innovation. He added that the Beyon Group’s new investments underscore investors’ confidence in the Jordanian economy, contribute to the development of digital infrastructure, and strengthen Jordan’s position as a regional hub for technology and innovation, as part of a national vision led by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to develop the ICT sector and make Jordan a regional center for innovation and knowledge.

In his keynote address, Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Beyon Group, stated, “The strong and long-standing brotherly ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have always formed the foundation of our successful investment in Umniah over the past two decades. The launch of Umniah by Beyon is more than a visual transformation, it marks a new chapter in our shared journey. It reflects our deep commitment to contributing to Jordan’s promising digital future, and within the Beyon group, it reflects our determination to continue to invest and expand our operations. Our planned investment of approximately JOD 300 million in the Kingdom over the next five years is a testament to our confidence in Jordan’s growth and our commitment to supporting its economic and social development.”

Faisal Al Jalahma, CEO of Umniah by Beyon, emphasized that the new identity represents more than just a name or logo change, stating, “This transformation embodies our vision for a more connected, innovative, and inclusive future. We will continue to invest in next-generation technologies, from 5G and artificial intelligence to cloud computing, allowing us to meet the evolving needs of our customers and contribute to building a strong digital economy that elevates Jordan’s position in the region. Aligning our corporate identity with the Beyon Group is a natural progression that strengthens our ability to leverage Beyon’s global infrastructure and expertise. Nonetheless, our essence remains the same; we will stay close to our customers and community, transparent in our promises, and bold in our innovations. This new identity is a pledge to carry our Jordanian success story to the world.”

Looking forward, Umniah by Beyon will focus on global connectivity, technological leadership, sustainable innovation, and digital inclusion. The company’s upcoming projects include the establishment of an advanced data center to support Jordan’s digital infrastructure, the expansion of its 5G network, the introduction of Wi-Fi 7 technology, and the extension of its fiber network across Amman, Balqa, and Zarqa, with a special focus on Wadi Araba.

Beyond its business operations, Umniah by Beyon continues to invest in the community through impactful and sustainable initiatives. Among its most notable projects is the School’s Connectivity Program, developed with the Ministry of Education, which aims to connect more than 3,500 schools and educational sites, benefiting over 1.3 million students and 100,000 educators, a reflection of the company’s commitment to advancing digital education across Jordan.
