Faisal Qamhiyah

CEO

Faisal serves as Umniah’s CEO, he has extensive experience in the telecommunications and investment sector spanning more than 20 years. He Joined Batelco, a subsidiary of Beyon group, in 2012 and held the CFO role from May 2019 until May 2023. Prior to joining Batelco, Faisal held the CFO role at Umniah, and among his earlier roles, he was the Chief Operations Officer for Zain Jordan, and Investments Director for Ern Capital.

Faisal has been a Board member in several of Beyon’s telecoms, technology and digital companies in Europe, Asia and the Gulf region.

Faisal holds a BA in Economics & Accounting from Yarmouk University, passed AICPA exams from Delaware, USA in 1999. He has completed the Executive Development Program at Kellogg School of Management as well as various leadership programs including Stanford Graduate School of Business, Harvard Business School and London Business School. Faisal is co-founder of the Jordan Association of Management Accountants (JAMA).

Khaldoun Sweidan

Chief Commercial Officer

With over 18 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Khaldoun bring a host of skills in marketing, sales, pricing and planning propositions, market research, product development, and customer excellence. Khaldoun’s possess strong leadership and management skills, in addition to his unique capabilities in identifying challenges and opportunities in the loyalty and retention field, developing cost-sensitive solutions, and setting plans to achieve targets and boost the company’s competitive edge have enabled him to manage several key roles at Umniah.

Khaldoun holds an MBA degree from Middle East University and a BSc degree in Computer Science from Applied Science University.

Samer Taha

Chief Financial Officer

Samer currently oversees the accounting, treasury, financial planning, revenue assurance & fraud, and procurement functions.

With over 25 years of experience in the telecom industry in the Middle East and the USA, Samer worked at Etisalat UAE, Zain Jordan, and CenturyTel in the USA prior to joining Umniah in 2020.

Samer worked briefly in the airline industry between 2012 and 2013 where he led Royal Jordanian’s efforts to finance the first deliveries of the Boeing 787 aircraft.

Holds a BSc Degree in Management from University of Jordan and an MBA from University of Louisiana at Monroe. Also completed the Executive Development Program from Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

Alaa Ibrahim

Chief Technical Officer

Alaa has a rich experience in the telecom industry spanning more than 27 years. Prior to joining Umniah as CTO in 2022, Alaa’s roles included  CTIO of Djezzy in Algeria, Group Network Director at Veon Group overlooking 18 mobile and fixed operations, in addition to holding various leadership positions within Orascom Telecom, Alcatel and Telecom Egypt.

Alaa holds a BSc in Engineering from Cairo University and an MBA from Maastricht School of Management.

Ehab Hafez

Chief Digital and IT Officer

Ehab joined Umniah in 2023 with over 20+ years of IT experience assuming various executive management roles in multinational organizations including Oracle, Zain and Scala.

Throughout his career, Ehab has led teams to support digital transformation programs for companies across the East, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Ehab is an authority in Digital transformation strategy formulation, channel management, business development, program management, change management, business-IT alignment, business process reengineering, leadership, customer success and retention.

Ehab holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering, MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University, a Diploma in international business and strategy from Westford University College and executive certifications from Harvard, INSEAD-France, and Telecom Academy-London. He is also a member of the Chartered Management Institute and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Iyad Jabr

Chief Business Officer

Iyad has more than 22 years of experience in the IT and Telecom industries.

Before joining Umniah in 2023, Iyad held the position of Enterprise Marketing Director at Zain Kuwait. Iyad’s experience also includes a career at Tawasul Telecom Kuwait where he served as the Acting Head of Product Management and Ooredo Kuwait, where he served as the Head of Internet and Data Services and the Head of B2B Marketing.

Iyad holds an MBA from Maastricht University School of Business and Economics.

 

Amjad Frouqa

Director of Quality, Business Continuity and Information Security

Amjad Frouqa has garnered a vast experience in the telecom and IT sector having held diverse roles and responsibilities that include technical support, operations, project implementation, planning, and procurement.

After undertaking the formidable responsibility of establishing two new functions at Umniah, namely Business Continuity and Information Security, he was entrusted with creating the Project Management Office and a Cyber Security Operations Center. Additionally, he pioneered the formation of the Compliance function within the organization.

Before joining Umniah in 2007, Amjad acted as the Technical & IT Director at Batelco Jordan, he also served at the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

Amjad Holds a BSc. in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University of Science and Technology, USA.

Diana Saidi

Diana Saidi

Director of HR & Corporate Affairs

Diana Joined Umniah in 2011, expert at enhancing engagement, team effectiveness, and application of leading-edge practices through HR strategy that scales organizational growth and effectiveness.

Through her career, Diana engaged in several mass recruiting projects including Telecom, Hospitality, Oil & Gas, Cement, FMCG, Real Estate and more. Diana has been supporting and coaching young professionals in achieving their professional goals by providing training and guidance in different occasions.

Before her HR & Corporate Affairs Director role, she ran the Talent Acquisition Department and managed “The Tank”, a business incubator by Umniah.

Diana holds a double BSc major in English-German languages from the University of Jordan.

Wajeeha Al-Husseini

Wajeeha Al-Husseini

Brand & Corporate Communications Director

Wajeeha Al-Husseini is currently the Brand & Corporate Communications Director at Umniah. In this role, she oversees branding, advertising, and corporate communication. With over 25 years of experience, she has played a pivotal role in leading Umniah to numerous successful marketing and communication campaigns. Notably, she recently spearheaded the launch of Umniah’s 5G services in the Jordanian market as well as Umniah’s Sustainability Program.

Wajeeha is recognized for her creative thinking and her exceptional expertise in crafting branding campaigns and product launches. Her impressive track record encompasses successful campaign launches, brand development, corporate reputation management, and the formulation of effective communication strategies.

Wajeeha holds a BBA degree in Business Administration having graduated Cum Laude from Texas Christian University’s prestigious M.J. Neeley School of Business.

 

Yazan Al-Hyasat

Director of Legal Affairs and Secretary of Umniah’s Board of Directors

Yazan Al-Hyasat currently holds the position of Umniah’s Director of Legal Affairs and Secretary of Umniah’s Board of Directors, bringing more than 18 years of diverse legal expertise in areas including litigation, aviation, retail, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications.

Before joining Umniah, Yazan held key roles in various organizations, including Senior Corporate Counsel at Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Senior Legal Advisor at Toyota Motor Corporation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Manager and In-House Lawyer at Royal Jordanian, and a member of the corporate litigation team at Coca Cola.

Yazan holds a Master’s Degree in International Trade Law from the National University of Malaysia (2008) and a Higher Diploma in Private Law from the Amman Arab University (2006). He has also completed multiple specialized legal training courses, both within and outside Jordan, enhancing his legal acumen.

Samer Al-Rawabdeh

Samer Al-Rawabdeh

Director of Regulatory Affairs and Government Relations

Samer Al-Rawabdeh is Umniah’s Director of Regulatory Affairs and Government Relations, boasting a 24-year career in telecom and IT. Before Umniah, Samer was Director of Regulatory Affairs at Orange Jordan from July 2015 to August 2023. His expertise spans to Regulatory Affairs Management including Regulatory Licensing, Regulatory policies and Compliance, Networks, Spectrum Management, Numbering, Quality of Service, and interconnection with other licensed operators.

Samer excels in ensuring regulatory compliance in diverse telecom markets, including mobile, fixed, and internet sectors, and well practical experience in all legal and regulatory developments related to telecommunications, information technology sectors, and digital market regulations. He holds a B.A. in Telecommunications Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, international telecom certifications, and actively contributes to regulatory policies in domestic and international forums.

Ali abu maelish

Ali Abu Mailesh

Internal Audit Director

Ali Abu Mailesh, a seasoned telecom and consultancy professional with over 23 years in the industry, serves as the Internal Audit Director at Umniah. Ali excels by leveraging a comprehensive skill set including Internal Audit, Risk Management, Financial Analysis, and Governance, offering expertise in financial and business consultations. He focuses on advising and enhancing strategy, fostering innovation, and optimizing operational efficiency while staying attuned to emerging opportunities and risks.

 

Ali holds an MBA from the University of Jordan, and is a certified public accountant with additional certifications including CMA and CIA.

Abdulla-Abdulrazaq-Bukhowa-1

Abdulla Abdulrazaq Bukhowa

Chairman

Abdulla Bukhowa currently serves as Umniah’s Chairman of the Board and has been serving on Beyon’s Board of Directors since 2020 as a representative of the Social Insurance Organization (SIO). He was elected by the shareholders at the AGM in 2023 as a Non-Executive Independent Director for 3 years.

Bukhowa has been the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company since July 2021. Previously, Bukhowa held the role of Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Bahrain, established in 1920 as the first bank in the country and the Arabian Gulf region. He also held the role of Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank in Doha from January 2017 to March 2019. He was responsible for leading and implementing the overall strategy of the Bank.  Bukhowa joined Standard Chartered Bank in September 2010 as Bahrain’s Country Head of Global Markets and co-head of Wholesale Bank. In December 2014 he was given the responsibility for leading both the Financial Markets and Corporate and Institutional Banking segments.  Bukhowa has over 21 years of experience which includes being Head of Portfolio Management at the Central Bank of Bahrain, and roles at Reuters and Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco). He holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Texas, USA.

He is currently a Board member in the Bahrain Association of Banks, Future Generations Reserve, National Motors Company, and Tasheelat Insurance Services (TISCO).

Mikkel Vinter

Vice Chairman of the Board – Umniah Chief Executive Officer Beyon & Batelco

Mikkel Vinter serves as the vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Umniah Mobile Company PLC, Mikkel also leads the executive team of Beyon, across its operations in Bahrain, the Middle East Region, and internationally, having joined Batelco in 2019, as its Chief Executive Officer.

With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunication industry holding executive roles, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Mikkel has a broad international background with experience from telecom operators in the Middle East, Asia & Europe, including several Greenfield mobile start-up operations. Among his previous roles, he founded Virgin Mobile, Middle East & Africa in 2006 and served as its Chief Executive Officer until 2016.

Before setting up Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa, Mikkel served as Chief Commercial Officer for Nawras in Oman leading all the commercial activities from before the launch until Nawras was successfully established with a 20%-plus market share. His previous roles also included senior positions with TDC in Denmark and Singtel in Singapore.

Mikkel is a member of the Board of Directors of Sure Limited and Dhiraagu (Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun PLC) where he is also on the RNG (Remuneration, Nomination and Governance) Committee. He is also a member of the Al Waha Fund of Funds, Limited Partner Advisory Committee.

Mikkel holds a master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School and has completed a Marketing and Management Programme with McGill University and INSEAD.

Bader-Al-Khalifa

Board Member at Umniah Chief Communications & Sustainability Officer at Beyon

Shaikh Bader serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of Umniah Mobile Company PLC. Shaikh Bader has over 25 years of experience across diverse fields including People Management, Communications, and Sustainability which serve him well in his role as Beyon’s Chief Communications & Sustainability Officer.

Previously, Shaikh Bader held several managerial and executive roles in Batelco, having joined the company in 2010.  Currently, he is responsible for Beyon’s Corporate and Marketing Communications, Beyon Creative Lab, and Sustainability Functions.

Prior to Batelco, Shaikh Bader worked in Aluminum Bahrain (Alba), where he led the Human Resources and Communication functions.

Shaikh Bader holds a BA in Business Administration from New England College and a Master of Science in Management from Boston University, USA. He also completed leadership and executive development programs in the Leadership Trust (UK), and Harvard Business School.

Maitham-Abdulla

Board Member at Umniah Chief Operating Officer at Batelco

Maitham Abdulla serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of Umniah Mobile Company PLC. Maitham was appointed to the role of Batelco Bahrain  Chief Operating Officer in 2022, with the responsibility to develop & grow the telecommunications services for the government, enterprise, global connectivity, and consumer sectors.

Previously, Maitham was the General Manager of the Consumer Division since 2020.  He brings over 15 years of experience in digital transformation, telecom product development, mobile & fixed technology, Data Centers, and content services.

Maitham has a long track record of achievements in various leadership positions including leading the introduction of Fiber to the Home in Bahrain, the first introduction of TIII Data Centers in Bahrain, the commercial launch of 5G, and the many transformational strategic programmes.

Maitham has an MBA in Marketing & Business Management from Al-Ahlia University and a BSc in Management Information Systems from NYIT as well as several professional qualifications in leadership and the telecommunication domain.

Reem Altajer

Board Member at Umniah Chief Financial Officer at Beyon

Reem Altajer is a Member of the Board of Directors of Umniah Mobile Company PLC. Reem was appointed as  Beyon CFO as of May 2023, having held the GM Finance role at Batelco since 2022.

Having joined Batelco in 2004, Reem has gained extensive experience through several roles including Internal Audit Manager, Subsidiaries Finance Manager, and Director of Treasury, Planning and Assurance. Prior to joining Batelco, she worked with Ernst & Young as an external auditor.

Reem holds a Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and is a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Investor Relations Officer.

Rashid Mohamed

Rashid Mohamed

Board Member at Umniah General Manager of Technology at Batelco Bahrain

Rashid Mohamed serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of Umniah Mobile Company in addition to being the General Manager of Technology at Batelco Bahrain as of 2022, having held the position of General Manager of Networks since 2018. Rashid’s responsibilities include driving the continuous development of Batelco’s Networks and IT solutions and ensuring superior quality of service for Batelco’s consumers and business customers.

Rashid is a qualified Bahraini engineer with more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunication field. Since joining Batelco he has held several key management positions in various areas including Mobile Network development, Fixed Operations as well as leading the Strategy role for Network and IT to deliver the latest digital technologies.

He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering & Management from Northumbria University, UK, and a BSc in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Napier University, UK, as well as a number of professional qualifications in the telecommunication domain.

Jehan Hasan

Board Member at Umniah Director Strategic Planning & Projects at Beyon

Jehan Hasan is the Director Strategic Planning & Projects at Beyon, having joined the Company in 2019. Jehan is also a member of the Board of Directors of Umniah Mobile Company PLC and AlHulool Mobile Payments.

With over 18 years of experience in investment and strategy, Jehan is responsible for leading strategy planning for Beyon Group of companies. Prior to joining Beyon, Jehan held the role of Assistant Vice President Group Strategy at Bank ABC, with her responsibilities including assisting with driving Bank ABC’s organic and inorganic strategy.

Jehan holds a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business from Concordia University and has also completed Strategy Specialization courses at Harvard Business School.
