During the announcement that was made by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan and the GSM Association (GSMA) with regards to the ‘1GOAL: Education for All’ mobile campaign, Umniah pledged its support to the world’s largest cause-related campaign ever undertaken in support of global education. The announcement of Umniah’s support took place on the 15th of February 2010 at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona during the launch video of the 1GOAL campaign in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the GSMA, Umniah’s CEO Mr. Ihab Hinnawi, other founding mobile and telecom operators supporting the campaign, as well as major international star football players such as the South Africa national football team Captain Aaron Mokoena, FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta, and other prominent international celebrities.

Umniah is proud to be part of this unique global initiative that supports such a critical cause, as the company strongly believes in the importance of education in alleviating poverty and developing communities that are capable of building a better future, all of which corresponds with Umniah’s culture of belonging to education, the future, the community and youth.

The campaign, which was officially launched on the 20th of April 2010 and continued until the World Cup Final in South Africa on the 11th of July 2010, aimed to ensure that all children of the world are given the opportunity to go to school by 2015, providing a platform for people across the globe to support the campaign.

The ‘1GOAL: Education for All’ campaign will comprise a host of mobile communications tools provided by involved telecom companies, including mobile advertising, applications and messaging. These mobile response mechanisms will enable millions of people to sign up and support the campaign, demonstrating that universal education is in fact a universal demand.
