Umniah was the first operator in Jordan to offer wireless Internet access from any location without the need for a fixed phone line in 2007, and now Umniah has finished phase one of the enhancement of its WiMAX network starting with Amman…
The Umax service; Umniah’s own brand for WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), is a state-of-the-art technology that provides Internet access for users through a large range wireless network covering wide areas.
This cutting-edge technology is among the latest offerings of the international telecom scene, and enables easy Internet access without the need for a landline. WiMAX also provides wide wireless coverage that allows subscribers to access the Internet using the same account from any location covered by the service.
The Umax service is offered through Jordan, with enhanced coverage in Amman, Aqaba, Irbid, Zarqa, Mafraq, where all the subscribers can enjoy access to the Internet through the proper device.
Access to the Internet is through using a small, lightweight, portable device known as a CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) where Umax subscribers can enjoy high quality Internet. Subscribers simply need to connect the CPE to their computer to gain access to high speed Internet ranging from 256Kbps – 3Mbps from anywhere covered by the service. A wide variety of CPEs will be available with the Umax offers, the subscriber can choose from a Wi-Fi enabled CPE for indoor wireless access or a USB CPE to be used while on the go within the coverage areas.
